I think that just means you love him more as time goes on... and I think that's a good thing. As hard as it is to say goodbye, the better it will be to have him come home.

Hi there, Unlikely. I got here via Blogger's location search for Lafayette. I'm also Asian and have lived in Louisiana most of my life.

My husband's been offshore for over 10 years now, plenty of time for me to get used to his departures, right?

Well, not entirely. I share your sentiment here: I've been okay with his departures, but "now it's just hard." We often wonder if, say, 15 years from now, we won't blink an eye. But I highly doubt it will ever be easy.

That said, it is a trade-off. His job has allowed us to live on one income and homeschool our kids. And we never, ever take for granted his two solid weeks home. Much better than the leftovers of a 9-5 (in our opinion).

Looking forward to reading more about your life. Already, your voice is familiar to me.
