Is a planned road trip as fun as an unplanned one?

I truly feel like I am moments away from jumping out of my skin. This house is draining me of anything remotely good. Not the house itself, but just being HERE. Yesterday I told Husband that we definitely have to plan on driving up to NY in July, whenever this job that he is on is over. I need to get out on the road and see something new. The bad thing is that it won't be that new, since I've probably done this drive 10 times in my life. I'm just so fracking discontent right now! I've actually had a nice week, spent some time with my friend Kat, done some cleaning and interesting cooking, but the moment I stop moving, my brain turns to mush. And tv, God, tv. I watched "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" and I regret it. Could it be more brainless? Sure it's fun to see Heidi of The Hills crying with no makeup, and her husband Spencer flat out lose his mind, but I just felt like sh*t after watching. I need to devote my time to something more stimulating. And it's on 4 nights a week? No thank you.

I'm just so...BLAH. I've recently stopped eating meat. I wonder if that's what is causing my antsy behavior. Too much energy? Time for yoga.

Discontentment is a bear. Maybe you could find a good book?

@Ronnica, you're probably right, reading would do me some good right now. Any suggestions?

I am feeling like this too...maybe it's the time of year? I really want a change of scene as well.

Maybe you could at least get away for a weekend, a bit sooner? When would you go on your road trip? We're going in July but it's a visiting-family thing...

@Lidian, I definitely think it's the time of year. I'd like to go to New Orleans for a weekend, but with my husband's schedule, doesn't look like that will be possibility. We're going up to Rochester, NY in July, also a family thing, but we're going to take our time driving and stop and see whatever we can find. I've been trying to find a site where I can put in start and end destinations, and get a list of weird, fun things along the way, but haven't found anything yet. Any ideas? Where are ya'll headed in July?

We should start a book club. My brain feels like it's turning to mush as well.
