Summertime is upon us...

I hate summer. I really do. As a 27 year old who has long been out of school, the summer doesn't mean anything special. It's too hot to do anything fun outside short of hosing yourself down (something we did nearly every day of the summer last year), plus the constant "OMG HURRICANE" attitude everyone has, including me. Usually work at Husband's job is slow during the summer, to avoid the possibility of hurricanes interrupting I guess, but it doesn't look like that will be the case this year. The last couple of nights we've had a cold front, and I nearly convinced myself it was late September.

So when Husband and I started dating in the fall of 2002, one of the first dates he took me on was to a Louisiana Ice Gator hockey game (ECHL). At first I thought to myself, "Oh. Really. A hockey game. What about me makes you think I'd like this?" But I ended up loving it. Me, the non sports fan. We spent many a nights at games after that, drinking lots of Hurricanes and yelling obscenities at the referees. In 2005, after 10 years, the team folded. Lots of nonsense involving the arena and ticket prices was the reason. Well, they're coming back! They won't be ECHL, rather Southern Professional Hockey League, which only has about 9 teams, and they won't play in the same arena, rather in an older one, but I can't help but be incredibly excited.

Oh, I just remembered one great thing about summer. Snocones.
